Lizzard Skate Jam
Robert Bombo, the local Durban skateboarder who recently knocked his front teeth out in a radical skateboarding wipeout, was the focus of the Kwa-Zulu Natal skate community on Saturday 01 December. Skateboarders of all ages took part in the Lizzard Benefit Skate Jam, a competition held to raise funds for Robert's dental expenses as well as win some of the footwear and cash up for grabs from Lizzard. A total of R1 490 was raised through the event entry fees, Lizzard matched this to bring the amount to R2 980 which will go directly towards RobertÕs dental expenses to get his teeth back to normal.
Hux indoor skatepark at the Pavilion shopping shopping centre hosted the event at no charge and over 30 skateboarders entered the three best trick divisions, Nandos provided lunch for all the skaters and everyone received a goodie bag from Lizzard as thanks for participating and contributing the much needed funds for Robert.
A jam format was used throughout the day where skaters were given time to bust out their best trick on each obstacle. Winners of the best trick in each section of the park and division were:
Stairs & handrail:
Luan Oosthuisen (beginner)
Tony Ross (intermediate)
Robert Bombo (pro)
Manual pad:

Mike Frew, marketing manager from Lizzard said "It was great so see so many local skaters turn out for this good cause, we also really appreciated the help from Gavin at Hux skatepark and all the effort he put into making this event happen, everyone will be stoked to see Robert get his smile back".
