Lizzard Tag Series #3
Grant Beck, Raaiq Pandie, Alex Milne, Ricky Fairall & Dane van Greunen of Team Extreme won the third Lizzard Tag Series event in clean 2-3ft offshore conditions at Pollock Beach in Port Elizabeth Saturday (November 24). They beat the Beach Bums, the Young Guns and Water Rats in the final to win the R2 000 first place prize money.

TEAM EXTREME
In this unique Tag contest local surfers were split into teams of five which featured novice and experienced juniors boys and girls ranging from under 10's through to under 16's. Prior to the start of the first 45 minute heat surfers had to come up names for their teams, appoint a team captain and decide who the power surfer would be.
With the emphasis being on fun and enjoyment, parents and supporters all got involved which was evidenced in the cheering and whistling every time a surfer paddled out, caught a wave or tagged one of their teammates.

FINALISTS
For many of the participants this was their very first experience of competitive surfing and they were able to surf in the same team or compete in heats against some of the top Eastern Province and South African junior surfers.
Former women's World Championship Tour competitor and current Lizzy teamrider Heather Clark was on hand to encourage the youngsters, give pointers and hand out the prize money.
Mike Frew, Lizzard's Marketing manager was pleased with the success of the event. "I'd like to thank Eastern Province Surfing for hosting such a great event. The Surfing South Africa sanctioned Tag Series, held in the Cape, KZN and Eastern Cape over the last couple of months has introduced a different way for top juniors to compete. It has also allowed many youngsters an opportunity to experience competitive surfing for the first time in a fun environment. Lizzard are committed to continuing with the Tag Series; next year and can confirm that there will be four contests around the country. The first Lizzard Tag event for 2008 will be held at the end of May in Cape Town"
The Lizzard Tag Series is sanctioned by Surfing South Africa and uses the Tag format developed by the International Surfing Association and adopted by Surfing South Africa.
